E-Learning initiative

We invite you to be a part of an innovative national Neurology e-learning programme. In conjunction with the Association of British Neurology Trainees (ABNT), we are creating an online learning resource designed to benefit medical students and doctors in their early years of training. We intend to create ~ 23 innovative PowerPoint based case studies that cover the neurology outcomes stated in the core medical training curriculum.  Our e-learning method aims to replicate real-life clinical practice in order to improve skills in clinical decision making and prioritisation. There is no other open-access resource that provides this level of interactive e-learning along with the most up-to-date clinical guidelines and pathophysiology. This project was announced at the Association of British Neurologists (ABN) junior doctor road show on the 19th May 2015.

We require enthusiastic individuals to work alongside the Innovative E-learning team and ABNT to create scripts for the online modules. Upon receipt of your completed application, we will allocate you a topic (in accordance with your personal preference), provide a ‘how to guide’, and also attach an example of a finalised script and PowerPoint case study. You will be supported throughout the process by the Innovative E-learning team. If you are part of the ABN mentorship scheme, we ask you to write the script in conjunction with your mentor. If you are not part of the ABN mentorship scheme, we invite you to apply for 2016 and/or seek local neurology mentorship during the time of the project.

By participating in this project we hope that you will gain detailed knowledge in one or more areas of Neurology as you research and write your script, but also that you will benefit from the entire collection of e-learning modules once they are completed. All e-learning modules will appear on the ABNT website with authors clearly referenced, and you will receive a certificate of participation for your CV and portfolio.

This project offers you the opportunity to gain valuable experience by engaging in a national teaching programme that implements an innovative e-learning format. We attach an application form and a list of topics to choose from. Please return a completed application form to elearning@abnt.org.uk if you wish to contribute.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks,

The Innovative E-learning Team (Drs E.Tallantyre, S.Vernon, S.Russell)
