Consultant Neurologist (10 PAs)

All newly appointed Consultants are mentored, via the “WSHFT Mentorship scheme for senior medical staff”.

The Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a new Trust, formed by the amalgamation of the highly performing Royal West Sussex and Worthing and Southlands Hospitals NHS Trusts, providing health care for nearly 500,000 people. The Trust has recently been rated as ‘Outstanding’ by the CQC, and we are one of only three Trusts in the country to be awarded this status and recognition.

Based in Chichester on the South Coast of England, we are a forward looking and innovative trust whose purpose is to provide high quality emergency and elective care for the people of West Sussex. Foundation Trust Status was achieved in July 2013. The locality is one of outstanding natural beauty and richly endowed with excellent sporting and cultural facilities with good transport links to London and Europe.

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is one of the country’s largest teaching hospitals. It provides services to its local catchment population of 500,000 people and its growing tertiary services are provided to a population of three million across the southern counties of England including the Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands.

The Wessex Neurological Centre is the regional Centre for Neurosurgery, Complex Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology serving a population of 3.5 million. We provide a wide range of specialist adult and paediatric services housed in both the Wessex Neurosciences Centre UHS and in the out-patient departments across our catchment area. Stroke Services, MS and Neuropsychology are also part of the Care Group.

The Care Group has a budget of £26.5 million and employs 341 WTE staff. We manage our elective and emergency flow through 70 Neurosciences beds, 10 regional transfer beds, 9 hyper acute stroke beds, and a 28-bedded stroke ward. The Wessex Neurological Care Group is a welcoming, busy and dynamic environment.
