ABN guidance on COVID-19 for neurology patients

We appreciate the anxiety that the current COVID-19 outbreak has generated for patients with neurological conditions their families and carers. There is need for clear and definitive advice on which patient should be self-isolating and whether certain medications should be discontinued. This is a rapidly developing picture. National guidance on the use of immunological treatments is actively being developed through the Royal College of Physicians, to which specialist societies including the ABN will contribute. The consensus guidance will be developed with the Chief Medical Officer, with the expectation that this guidance will be published at the start of next week. Pending definitive guidance, we suggest that stable patients continue their treatment. Patients with symptoms of possible COVID-19 should follow national guidance by not visiting their GP or hospital, but contacting NHS 111.
