Dear colleagues

The following email from 14:45 Saturday afternoon has been forwarded to the ABN. The deadline for submitting COVID-19 highest risk patients of Monday 17:00 turns out to be more flexible. There is now no fixed deadline.

 Best wishes

Jon Sussman. ABN Honorary Secretary

Dear Colleague,

Please find below some Frequently Asked Questions and their answers.

Q. We have a large cohort to submit - more than the 500 limit in the template. How do we send this to you?

A. As of this morning, 11th April 2020, we have updated the submission template to permit 5000 records. If you have any questions regarding how to download this new template please do let us know.

Q. The deadline given to Trusts Guidance is to submit all data by 17:00 on Monday 13th April. This will be difficult due to access to clinicians in the speciality services. Can we submit later in the week.

A. We appreciate all the efforts you are making to return your cohort to us. Please endeavour to do all you can, but please be aware that the SDCS collection will continue on a daily basis until further notice and therefore you can continue to submit beyond Monday 13th April if you require additional input from specialists within your Trust.

Q. The columns in the template do not align to the communication provided. This is a confusing message - is there an explanation?

A. The communication aligns to the key messages provided by NHS England/ Improvement and seeks to give clarity on what is required. However, the template aligns directly to the categories supplied by the Chief Medical Officer for England. We apologise for any confusion caused. If you are in any doubt regarding how disease categories need to be recorded in the template please refer to the full methodology:

Q. In addition, the commentary in Table 2 of the methodology gives you precise detail regarding how to identify, or calculate, individuals who should be shielded.

Q. We have tens of thousands of patients to submit. How can we do this in the time available?

A. Please be aware that we do not need your entire cohort. You will have received your Trust's Shielded Patient List cohort via SEFT up to 09/04/2020. This will have been sent to you as the COVID-19 lead for your Trust. Any patient included in this extract does not need to be replicated in the list you send back. The extract we have sent you includes all of your cohort based on SUS submissions to 29th February 2020, so you should only need to consider anyone you feel has been missed by applying your professional judgement or adding those patients whose treatment for categories of conditions on the CMO listing commenced from 1st March 2020 forwards.

Kind Regards
