2026 ABN Clinical Research Training Fellowships – Now Closed for Applications
ABN Fellowships support the salary of a current or future neurology trainee to allow completion of a higher degree in any area of Clinical Neuroscience, of clear benefit to those with primary neurological diseases.

Applicants
- Should already hold a UK or Irish specialist training post in Neurology (pre-CCT)
OR - Demonstrate a clear intention to enter Neurology specialist training after completion of the Fellowship.
Awards
- Three years maximum
- May be between two and three years if the candidate has already undertaken up to one year of research that can be counted toward their higher degree
- Award take-up by September 2027
Funding
- Primarily for salary, paid at the level of the candidate’s current basic NHS clinical salary point
- Additionally, up to £10,000 per annum to cover fees or other research costs

- All Neurology sub-specialties for fellowships awarded by the ABN and its funding partner, the Guarantors of Brain
- Disease-specific: This year, we have funding available from the Progressive Supranuclear Palsy Association for a fellowship up to £350,000
Key Dates
- Closing date for applications: 21 September 2025 (23:59 hrs)
- Interviews (virtual) for shortlisted applicants: 3 December 2025
