The ABN Research (RC), comprised of ABN members, advises the ABN on research and academic Neurology.  Their aim is to promote research in Neurology, in both University and NHS settings.  Each member of the committee represents a different geographical region and reports and advises on research and academic matters to the committee at regular meetings.  They manage the:

• ABN Clinical Research Training Fellowship Scheme
• Rare Diseases Ascertainment and Recruitment (RaDAR)

The committee also publishes the research-active trainees in Neurology dataset. These data allow examination of the numbers of research-active trainees in Neurology on an annual basis from 2018. They will be updated annually. This is not a complete view: we only have data for England and do not have data for out-of-programme trainees who are doing higher degrees. But we hope this will allow monitoring of the number of trainees opting in to research. The table shows the numbers of Academic Clinical Fellows (ACFs) and Clinical Lecturers (CLs) funded by NIHR, in addition to the numbers of locally funded recognised posts (LFRs), seen as equivalent to NIHR posts.
