Patient registry for cannabis-based products for medicinal use

The NHSE review of the barriers to accessing cannabis-based products for medicinal use on NHS prescription recommended a patient registry for licensed and unlicensed cannabis-based products for medicinal use, as per NICE guidance NG144. 

From Thursday 1 April, providers of specialised services prescribing cannabis-based products for patients should submit data to the registry. NHSE has asked NHS trusts to ensure:

·        neurology clinicians/controlled drug accountable officers are aware of the requirement

·        a lead clinician is identified and registers at Arden and GEM CSU for training and technical support: agem.apps@nhs.net.
