Individual Benchmarking Survey

The ABN Quality Committee has developed the Best Practice Benchmarking tool, which focuses on individual practices in Neurology. The tool can be used by all ABN members and is intended to provide you with data to demonstrate safe practice, for example, at your appraisal or revalidation. It can be found below and is also accessible directly. The survey takes 20 minutes on average to complete.

Safe neurological services are crucial, but how to deliver and measure them is not always straightforward. In 2022, the ABN Quality Committee conducted a survey of individual, service and national practices. Results were presented by Chris Kipps (chair of the Quality Committee until 2023) at the annual ABN meeting. Based on the survey findings, the Quality Committee developed this new tool.

To help make sure the tool is relevant now and the future, you can obtain several outputs once you have submitted your responses:

This will enable benchmarking of your practice against those of colleagues across the UK. The results could inform conversations with appraisers and service managers to highlight good practices and potential gaps and facilitate discussions about the need for resources and time for service improvements.

Your answers are anonymous, but we ask for some demographic data to help ensure the results are representative and results can be compared to others working in a similar setting.

We hope you will find the Best Practice Benchmarking tool useful. The Quality Committee would appreciate your feedback on its applicability, how you have used it and anything you'd like to see improved, to inform future versions and maximise its usefulness.
