Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Committee
Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Committee
The ABN Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee (ED&I) was set up in the second half of 2020, in response to a review and report produced by BITC, to examine and recommend actions to ensure equal opportunities for all members within the ABN. We also work with the Neurological Alliance to deliver equitable nationwide availability of excellent and equitable neurological services.

The committee has added the following statement to the ABN’s principal objectives: Promote an inclusive neurological community and equal opportunity for all neurologists and trainees.

Read about our progress to date in the 2025 Annual Meeting Poster.

Current workstreams for the committee include

  • Council, Committee and Advisory Group representation & barriers to participation
  • Accessible meetings and events
  • Neurology sector and Workforce data
  • The ABN asks videos

The ABN's aims with regards to EDI are:

  • To become a fully inclusive organisation within which members from all communities can participate and engage at all levels
  • To identify and address barriers to participation
  • To create an environment where bullying and harassment is not tolerated in any shape or form
  • To take full advantage of current and emerging technologies to create online facilities that enable ABN to inform, communicate and engage with its members
  • To ensure that all ABN members have the opportunity to learn about EDI and how it applies to them generally and specifically in relation to their roles.
