Neil Robertson

Neil Robertson is Professor of Neurology at Cardiff University within the Institute of Psychological Medicine and Clinical Neuroscience, and honorary consultant neurologist at the University Hospital of Wales and the Royal Glamorgan Hospital,
Llantrissant. He trained at St Thomas’ Hospital, London, undertook specialist Neurology training in Bristol, Cambridge and the National Hospital, Queen Square and completed an MD at the Multiple Sclerosis unit in Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge
in 1996. He was appointed as lecturer in Neurology in Cambridge in 1996, moving to Cardiff as senior lecturer in 1999. He was appointed to the chair of neurology in Cardiff University in 2010. His research has focussed on the epidemiology
and genetic epidemiology of neuroinflammatory CNS disorders, real-world data, disease biomarkers and optimisation of disease management and he is also director of a national neurological biobank. He leads a specialist clinical team delivering
a regional service for MS patients across south Wales as well as providing a general neurology service at a district hospital. He is active in medical education designing and delivering a curriculum for undergraduate clinical neuroscience
in Wales and developing and maintaining neurology teaching fellow and post CCT neuroinflammatory fellow programs. Within the ABN he has served as the neuroinflammatory special interest group co-chair before being elected as honorary treasurer
in 2018 and President elect in 2023.
