What is the NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN)?
The NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN) is a national research network, which supports the delivery of high-quality clinical research across 30 speciality groups, including “Neurological Disorders” ( https://www.nihr.ac.uk/explore-nihr/specialties/neurological-disorders.htm) and “Dementia and Neurodegeneration” (https://www.nihr.ac.uk/explore-nihr/specialties/dementias-and-neurodegeneration.htm). It is made up of local (regional) CRNs, and the leads of these local CRNs can be a good place to start if you are interested in learning about clinical research in neurology.
What can your local NIHR CRN do for you?
The NIHR CRN wants to support neurology trainees and facilitate their participation in research, and can potentially help in the following ways:
- Linking you into research activities in your region
- Identifying mentorship at a local level
- Signposting development and funding opportunities
- Highlighting national activities within your specialty interest
- Enabling connections with similarly interested early career researchers across the country
The map below includes details of local CRN leads who are happy to be contacted by trainees regarding clinical research experience.
